Virginia Vacation, Part 1: Hills of West Virginia, Arrival, ViBe Creative District and USS Wisconsin

We had such an amazing time on our much needed vacation. The weather was beautiful, the view was gorgeous, and we got to do a lot of things and see some sights. We saw dolphins and a shark, too! So cool! Our arrival was pretty chill. We arrived a little later than expected due to a few stops, but it was early enough to snap a few pics of the beach from our balcony. The view and warm breeze was exactly how I envisioned our stay.

A little boy told me before we left that he wasn’t getting in the ocean because of sharks. He was very adamant about not getting in past his ankles. Well, that all changed when we found him catching waves in about 4.5/5 feet of water. He had a blast! Then something black swam toward me and then I almost stepped on a crab, lol! I think I killed the good vibes.

We dug around in the sand for hermit crabs, the boys chased seagulls, we saw a movie on the beach, we rented a surrey that we rode next to the boardwalk. We also watched various performers - on the street, beach and boardwalk, we ate great food, and we made so many memories! I couldn’t have asked for a better vacation with my boys.

First up, ViBe Ceative District in VB and USS Wisconsin in Norfolk. These places were so cool. The art was amazing! There are so many talented people out there. The battleship was very warm inside, as it normally is when these boats are active (well, normal temps down below are 150 degrees). Thank God it wasn't THAT warm, but maybe 110 or so! There’s no way I could sleep in that heat! The history was neat, but it was almost eerie walking around. The experience was well worth it, though. Liam was probably the most excited out of all of us. He is crazy about boats or any large structure. Watching the boys explore the ship and then seem genuinely interested in the adventure made us very happy.

The hills of West Virginia! They were so pretty!

Pretty typical for tweens and teens, right?

This art structure was covered in bird houses. Very unique!
