Sunny Day Shenanigans

It has been very sunny and hot here lately.  I was outside putting flags in my landscaping for the Fourth of July and about had a heat stroke.  These days we only spend a little time outdoors for that very reason.  We are constantly watching the weather and putting up the umbrellas for shade, if it's not too windy.  Liam doesn't seem to care, though.  He is a lot like me at that age; always had to be outside doing something. 

I asked him what his plan is for the day (he always seems to have one).  He said he was going to ride his hoverboard around the neighborhood then make a few stops to say hi to his friends.  One of his friends came over to play for a little bit until they couldn't stand the heat anymore.  Liam came in to cool off and fixed himself a drink.  That didn't last long at all.  He told me he was going to draw a hopscotch on our driveway.  So much for cooling off and taking a rest.

As Liam was getting things ready, I noticed one of my petals from my planter of flowers was lying on the ground in the shape of a heart.  Love is all around!

These cicadas are everywhere.  Liam was in the middle of drawing a square and one hit him and landed on our driveway next to him.  I've been seeing a lot of them on the ground missing various body parts (a wing, legs, heads, their bottom halves). *gag*  I'll be so happy when these things move on!
