Kentucky Derby Participation

One of the few great things about our area is the festivities that go on for Derby, and of course, the Kentucky Derby itself.  The school kids participate and draw Derby pictures, make hats, horses, necklaces, and so on the week of the event.  We even get a day off from school for Oaks Day (a few races take place the day before Derby).  Liam made a hat out of newspaper and stickers this year for his class project.  It was adorable!  So adorable, in fact, that I didn't mind wearing it myself.  You think Churchill Downs would have let me in with it?
